LEADERSHIP


Jayme Norrie founded Linked Health Data Foundation to reduce the fiscal and operational burdens faced by all organizations who use health data to support scientific innovation and patient centered care. In addition to executing the initial objectives of the Foundation, she is the CEO of Cube Linked which is currently developing innovative knowledge support solutions for patients, physicians, healthcare providers, and life science companies. Prior to her leadership role in health informatics, she spent 25 years successfully navigating sales, marketing and corporate strategic positions with Pfizer, GSK, Bayer, and NPS Pharmaceuticals. This experience has provided her with in-depth understanding of the role information plays in successful scientific innovation and patient care as well as the challenges organizations face managing the vast, diverse data required to interpret outcomes, support clinical excellence, and provide validated evidence that informs accurate decisions. Ms. Norrie holds a Bachelor of Science, Nursing from Texas Tech University, and a Bachelor of Science, Economics from Louisiana Tech University and worked towards her MBA, Finance while there.

Matthew Samore, MD

Matthew Samore, MD is Chief of the Division of Epidemiology at the University of Utah, an Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Informatics, Director of the Salt Lake VA Informatics Decision Enhancement and Surveillance Center, and the Director of the Salt Lake Informatics, Decision-Enhancement, and Surveillance (IDEAS) Center. Prior to this, Dr. Samore spent eight years as a member of the faculty of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Samore’s expertise encompasses epidemiologic methods, computer-based surveillance, and decision support systems. Dr. Samore is focused on developing infrastructure for research through data integration. Dr. Samore is currently leading or participating in several randomized trials that address antimicrobial resistance that apply computer-based surveillance or prescribing: RADAR for the CMS, IMPART for the CDC, INFORM for the AHRQ, and an FDA study. Dr. Samore is the member of the HSR&D Scientific Review and Evaluation Board, Subcommittee for Career Development at the Agency of Health Care research and Quality (AHRQ) Health Care Research and Training (HCRT) Study Section. Dr. Samore received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin and completed his residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Beth Israel Hospital.

Gary Kennedy

Gary Kennedy is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of RemedyMD, a software provider focused on life sciences and healthcare. He is also the managing partner of Double Eagle Ventures, a private venture fund targeting seed stage investments. He was also President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of PRC, Inc., a systems integration company and wholly owned subsidiary of Black and Decker, which was sold to Litton in 1995. Prior to PRC, Mr. Kennedy served in various management and executive positions at Oracle, as one of the first ten employees, ending his career as President of Oracle USA. Prior to joining Oracle, Mr. Kennedy served as a Marketing Manager for Intel Corporation. Mr. Kennedy holds a B.A. in finance from the University of Utah and a Masters in Business Administration from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Mr. Kennedy was named Utah Entrepreneur of the Year in 1999 by Ernst and Young.

Denise Love

Denise Love is the Executive Director of the National Association of Health Data Organizations (NAHDO), a national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the collection and use of health care data for market, consumer, policy, and research purposes. Since 2000, Ms. Love has provided technical assistance to and advocacy for statewide health care data reporting programs and has been involved in expanding All Payer All Claims database legislation and implementation across states. Prior to joining NAHDO, Ms. Love was the Director of the Utah Office of Health Data Analysis where she oversaw the establishment of the statewide hospital and HMO reporting programs. She serves on advisory and steering committees including: the National Quality Forresearch functions um’s (NQF) Public/Community Health Agency Council, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Technical Advisory Panels, the Utah Department of Health’s Institutional Review Board, Health Insight of Nevada and Utah Council, and the Utah Partnership for Value Exchange, Outpatient Data Task Force. She has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing and a Masters of Business Degree in Health Care Administration.

Stanley Pestotnik

Stan Pestotnik, Founder and General Manager of TheraDoc, is a clinical pharmacist and medical informaticist with 35 years experience in managing the development and implementation of clinical decision support systems in hospitals and is internationally recognized for his work in medical expert system technologies to improve patient safety and quality of care. Additionally, for the last 20 years, he has been an independent consultant to the federal government and hospitals regarding the integration of clinical decision support systems into clinical workflow. After receiving his pharmacy degree from the University of Utah College of Pharmacy, Pestotnik obtained a Master of Science in medical informatics from the University of Utah School of Medicine.

Robert Lollini

Bob Lollini is the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Myrexis, Inc., formerly Myriad Pharmaceuticals. Prior to joining the Myrexis, Mr. Lollini held several executive management positions with Iomed, Inc., an international drug delivery company, serving as President and Chief Executive Officer and a director from November 2002 to August 2007, Chief Operating Officer from October 2001 to November 2002 and as Executive Vice President, Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary from January 1993 to October 2001. Between 1989 and 1992, Mr. Lollini worked for R.P. Scherer Corporation, also an international drug delivery company, as Vice President, Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary, and between 1981 and 1988, as its Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer and in various other management capacities. Between 1978 and 1981, Mr. Lollini was with the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen & Co. Mr. Lollini is a Certified Public Accountant and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Michigan State University and an MBA in Finance/Economics from the University of Detroit.

Dinesh Patel, PhD

Dinesh Patel is a founding managing director of vSpring Capital. From 1985 – 1999 Dr. Patel served as Co-Founder, Chairman of The Board of Directors and President & CEO of TheraTech, Inc., a biotechnology company which he took public and eventually sold to Watson Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Patel has founded other successful companies such as Ashni Naturaceuticals and Salus Therapeutics. He currently holds 15 US Patents and Foreign Counterparts. Dr. Patel serves on several non-profit boards, and has won numerous awards including; 2006 Utah Technology Council Hall of Fame Inductee, 2006 Ellis Island Medal of Honor, US Small Business Administration’s Business Achiever Award, Scientific and Technology Award (State of Utah), Entrepreneur of the Year Award (Mountain West Venture Group) and Scientific and Technology Development Pioneer of Progress Award to name a few. Dr. Patel served as co-chair of Governor Huntsman’s transition team. He is the Chairman of the USTAR Governing Authority board. Dr. Patel received his bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy at Gujarat University located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India his master’s degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and his Ph.D. in Physical Pharmacy from the University of Michigan.

John Fox, PhD

John Fox received his Ph.D. in Animal Physiology and Nutrition from Leeds University in 1976. Dr. Fox completed post-doctoral fellowships at Leeds and at the Mayo Clinic prior to joining the faculty of the Department of Physiology at Tulane University in 1984. Dr. Fox has authored over 95 peer-reviewed publications and is currently acting as a consultant to pharmaceutical companies working in the areas of calcium and bone metabolism. While serving as Senior Scientist at NPS he played a pivotal role in the development of the calcium receptor activator (calcimimetic) agents that suppress parathyroid hormone (PTH) secretion and which resulted in the approval of cinacalcet (SensiparTM) for the treatment of hyperparathyroidism.


Evidence based medicine in this new era of computer aided decision support must be built upon expertise and knowledge.

Leadership

Scientific and medical professionals must depend on experts in informatics and data if they are to confidently accept the benefits and information of computer aided outcomes research.
